Being a massive fan of Backgammon, I buy the boards whenever I see them for sale, but this is the first time that I’ve been lucky enough to find a wooden set! I can’t quite decide if it was factory made, or made at home as someone’s project, although the pieces clearly were made by machine (I have to add though, they’re pretty nice as far as Backgammon pieces go!). The only thing I’m not such a fan of is the little clasp , which I think cheapens what’s otherwise quite a fancy set! I also kind of wish there was somewhere to stash the dice so that they don’t scratch the board, although it’s probably pretty hardy – when we bought it home the outside of the case was a bit scratched so we gave it a light sand and varnish, but the inside, where the dice would have been rolling around, was nice and clean so I’m probably worrying for nothing.
A very handsome set that would make a wonderful Christmas gift for someone who’s a fan of the game.
P.S. These wooden sets normally start at around the $100 mark and work their way up to around $200!
Dimensions: Case measures 47.5cm long x 25.5cm wide x 6.5cm deep
