This is probably the coolest filter coffee machine that I’ve ever come across, and there’s good reason why – Wigomat should know what they’re doing when it comes to these machines seeing as they were the company who invented the first filter coffee machine in 1954! Until the 1950s most coffee was percolated, but with the arrival of the Wigomat things changed overnight – any restaurant worth it’s salt invested in a filter coffee machine! This version, which going on what I’ve seen online was probably one of the last models produced by Wigomat in the late ’70s, looks like it’s never been used before. It has its original Melitta filter coffee papers (although I definitely wouldn’t recommend using them!), and it’s original instruction booklet. The machine itself is in excellent nick, with practically no signs of wear.
I love the style of the Wigomat, it’s just so much cooler than the modern filter coffee machines – plus you’ve got to love that crazy name! What were those Germans thinking!
Note: I’m away for a week or two, and didn’t get a chance to take measurements before I left, so I’m afraid I can’t tell you exactly how big or small this coffee machine is. My apologies!
