Vintage Sterling Silver Cuff Necklace

R450.00

This is quite an incredible necklace! It’s made of sterling silver, and going on the stamp, looks like it might be Mexican. Obviously ‘Mex’ could also refer to the jeweler’s name, but given that Taxco in Mexico is recognised as an outstanding centre for silverwork, I think there’s a good chance that this is where our necklace was made. I thought it was something special when I first spotted it, so felt completely validated when my good friend Sam, who’s a jeweler herself, got super excited by it! I think maybe it was the embossed pattern that she was so impressed with – it really is very pretty! But sadly there is a downside to this necklace, and it’s quite a big one – it sits very strangely on your neck! We had a look to see if it had been altered at all, and it doesn’t seem to have been changed, but it really is the least ergonomic piece of jewellery ever! It’s possible though that if you have a skinnier neck than me it might sit a bit better, and there’s also the option of possibly adding a bit of chain to the back of the necklace, but obviously you’d need a jeweler to sort that out for you. I do hope though that someone out there falls in love with this piece, because there’s something really very special about it!!

P.S. Sam think the stones might be onyx or obsidian
