I often talk about my brother’s terrible influence on me when it comes to ceramic figurines, but I think I would always have fallen for a creature as special as today’s Russian Lomonosov zebra! In fact, rather than being kitsch (as a lot of animal figurines are), I think our wee foal is quite refined, especially when you consider the sharpness of her mane, and the unusual use of colours in the glaze – you can almost see the African sun setting on her amber coloured coat!
P.S. Most sites seem to date our zebra to the 1960s, and put a value of around $60 (R850) on her
