Vintage Rosenthal Vase

R420.00

Today’s vintage Rosenthal vase may be small, but it definitely packs a punch! The work of Danish artist, Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006), the vase forms part of Rosenthal’s ‘Semiramis’ (or Shammuramat/Sammuramat) series, which was inspired by the Queen of Babylon (811-806 BCE). It’s a difficult vase to date as there’s conflicting information online, but as best I can tell today’s vase was designed in the late 1970s, and appears to be in excellent condition for its years!

As I mentioned, this isn’t the largest piece of porcelain, but value-wise it’s right up there, with some dealers selling Semiramis vases for as much as R3000! More realistically though, there are a few Semiramis pieces for sale between $95 and $200 – although now that I think of it, that’s still R1300-R2800!
