Vintage Pineware Counter-Top Oven

R650.00 R495.00

These counter-top ovens are understandably not that popular, but how could I resist buying this Pineware version – I mean it looks like a 1950s Airstream!! It’s seriously quite beautiful – and I think in excellent condition for its years! I’m not sure if the corrugated top is original, but if it isn’t I think it goes pretty well anyway. It also looks like the power light is gone from the front of the oven, but that’s not terribly noticeable, and the handle is missing from the front of the oven (it should have had a small piece of plastic/bakelite hanging from the top of the glass door), so you’ll need to use an oven glove or dishcloth to open the oven, although I don’t think that’s too much of a mission. But the chrome body is spectacular, and the oven itself seems to work perfectly well. It also has a rotisserie function, with all the necessary accessories for roasting your meat.

Obviously most people have a full sized oven, but for people living in cramped quarters something like this would be a very attractive alternative, and probably one that will do a pretty decent job. Or if you have a ginormous kitchen (lucky fishes!) then you can use the Pineware as another cooking space, or as a dedicated chicken roaster or grilled sarmie maker!

P.S. In addition to the two metal trays, which while a bit stained are super solid, there’s a also a grill that someone’s purposefully bent, presumably to use as a bar of sorts on top of the grill…..
