Vintage Pineware Bread Slicer

R220.00

I think this must be one of the oldest bread slicers that we’ve featured on Mint! At first I thought that it was missing the knob that you use to adjust the thickness of your bread, but then I realised that it’s just a different design to the more modern Pineware slicer – instead of a knob, you turn the ridged rubber ring to move the plate back and forth. Obviously there’s plenty of wear to the bread slicer – the paint is quite chipped in places, and most noticeably the black rubber feet are way past their sell-by-date, with one of the feet missing. They seem to still function ok though, but might leave black smudges on your kitchen counter so would probably be better replaced – I think those clear rubber feet that you put on chair legs to protect wooden floors would probably work well as a replacement? But the main thing (aside from the fact that it’s a charmingly handsome piece!) is that it should still function perfectly well as a bread or meat slicer – the blades on these vintage slicers never seem to blunt!

Note: This bread slicer is a bit smaller than your average slicer, and also a fair bit heavier
