If you’re a collector of Italian glass, then today’s Murano sommerso bud vase will be right up your alley! ‘Sommerso’ translates as ‘submerged’, and refers to a technique of layering glass of contrasting colours on top of each other without the colours mixing – the effect is really striking!
Today’s bud vase has been made using clear glass and purple glass, which is almost the colour of methylated spirits when you hold it up to the light, but in normal daylight appears as a dark charcoal colour. The vase has some age to it and as a result has a few scratches, most notably on the base of the vase – which is exactly where you want to see this type of wear, but fortunately nothing too serious!
