You have to do a bit of hunting to work out the history of these vintage kitchen jars – they’re embossed with a stamp for the “General Store Marysville Kansas, 1882”, so your first thought is that they’re American, but then the base of the jars reads “Crownford China Co Inc, Made in Italy”, which throws you a bit of a curveball! It turns out that the Crownford China Company was a distributor of china and glass, based in New York City between 1964 and 1973. So they are in fact American, and vintage, but were obviously made to look older than they were at the time. So that’s the story! Regardless to their provenance though. they are a cool set of jars, with that classic angled base reminiscent of the jars you’d find filled with sweets in old trading stores. The large jar has a wonky side, which must have happened during the glass blowing process, but it still sits perfectly well on its base, and the clasps on all three jars work just fine, so they function just fine.
A great set of jars for your kitchen counter or pantry – the perfect spot to store treats!
