This is definitely a first for Mint – a delightful vintage tricycle! There were two for sale when I bought this little guy – the other tricycle was a bit worse for wear and didn’t have the extra seat at the back, but he did have his original maker’s sticker, which read Johannesburg – quite cool that these Tom Tom tricycles were locally made! Obviously the wooden seats on this tricycle have been replaced, and there are some issues with the paintwork, as well as there being no tread on the tyres (but hopefully your kids aren’t speed demons, so that shouldn’t matter!) – but at the end of the day, it’s an old piece with loads of character! And most importantly it’s still functional – I know it works because I took it for a ride! Granted my bum was sticking over the sides somewhat and I had to pedal pretty hard to get it going (I’m not exactly a feather weight!), but it seemed to work just fine – and on the plus side, if it can haul me around without breaking into pieces, it’s definitely sturdy enough to take any toddler out there!
Note: The wooden seats have been quite roughly hewn. The edges could probably do with a sand and a varnish. Please pay attention to all of the photos – the tricycle is solid, but there is a fair bit of wear & tear. Please note, this tricycle is for sale in Joburg only.
