Vintage Hospital Blanket

R120.00

I know I probably shouldn’t have bought this blanket (it’s pretty tired looking), but for some reason I’ve always had a serious weakness for this style of blanket – I like how cottony they are, and even though they don’t really go with the style of our home, I can so imagine them in a lovely country cottage in the Berg, or in a more contemporary home, but one with some vintage touches – how great would this blanket look on an old metal bedstead? The writing (one of the main reasons I bought the blanket) stands for Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) Ministry of Health (MOH), so it looks like someone nicked it at some point! Or maybe it came from one of the hospitals when it closed down, either way I suppose it doesn’t matter anymore. The white cotton is slightly dull from age, although not badly so, but there is a hole that’s had a bit of a dodgy repair (see photos) as well as a loose thread that should probably be pulled through. The colour and the loose thread don’t bother me, but the repair work is an issue, and is reflected in the price. That being said, I think it will probably hold, and it doesn’t really shout out at you.

A nice blanket for the end of a single or double bed- it’ll fit on the end of a queen too, although not as comfortably.
