Vintage German Heater-cum-Sunlamp

R380.00

I was sold this as a heater, but it seems that it’s most famous for being a sunlamp, although having tested it out I’m pretty sure it serves both functions. There are three bars—the two outside bars which radiate heat, and the third bar in the middle which seems to produce an infra-red light, presumably the sunlamp portion? There’s s switch on the side that allows you to either have all three bars going, or just the two outside heat bars. The only disadvantage to using it as a heater is that its position is fixed at a downward angle—perfect for heating your tootsies, or your hands if you have it on your desk while you type (both very necessary when it gets super chilly!), but it’s not going to work for an overall heat-me-up-all-over-I’m-freezing-to-death scenario! But as a statement piece that you use now and again, it’s  great item—and pretty collectible! There are quite a few references to it on museum sites, and the ones for sale online seem to sell for anything from $100 to €300!
