Vintage German Dachshund Teapot

R250.00

The maker’s mark on the base of today’s whacky teapot is all but faded away, but thanks to the power of the interweb I can tell you that this little chap is German and was produced for Erphila sometime between 1938 and 1945. Erphilia is a trade name that was used on items imported by Ebeling & Reuss of Philadelphia, which was founded by German emigrants Theodore Ebeling and Frederick Reuss in 1886. What makes the company interesting is that they imported products from a number of very respected porcelain factories, including Goebel, Selb and Arzberg! Given their relationship with such serious names it’s not surprising that today’s teapot is fairly collectible, selling for as much as $99 – with our silly exchange rate that’s a rather impressive R1400!

Dimensions: 20.5cm tall x 9cm wide x 14cm deep (incl. handle)
