I thought I was quite smart with this vintage pot plant – the maker’s mark is barely legible, and I couldn’t really make out any words at all, so I took paper and a pencil and rubbed over the outline – proper MacGyver-style! It worked really well, but sadly only for half the words – I could clearly make out ‘South Devon’ and the logo, which looks to be a picture of cliffs (Devon is on the coast). So while I still don’t know who’s responsible for this vintage pot plant (which I suspect is quite old), at least we now know that it’s English! There’s a small chip in the glaze, revealing the terracotta clay underneath, but no major damage, and really the wear is barely noticeable set against that rather gaudy, but quite lovely turquoise and mustard glaze!
