There’s no hiding the fact that this enamel washbasin’s a bit worse for wear, but that’s pretty much the norm with these vintage basins, plus this one’s so charming that I think we can forgive it a bit of wear & tear! The shape of this basin’s quite different to the ones that you normally see; it’s a bit more ornate with rounded edges and those lovely curvy handles. Plus, while its definitely a bit battered, structurally it’s absolutely fine – no holes in the enamel, so if you do actually want to use it to hold water you can. Personally though I think it would be better suited to a little veggie planter, or as somewhere to stash your kid’s toys on the verandah.
A very attractive piece of vintage enamelware that will hopefully find a deserving home.
