I bought these old enamel basins from the same lady as that fabulous red floral bowl that we sold last week. I really was quite surprised when she told me that the bowls had once belonged to her mother – she wasn’t exactly a spring chicken herself, and I had always believed that vintage enamelware should be pretty solid – whereas these bowls are a bit tinny. For some reason it had never occurred to me that even back in the day there would have been different types of enamelware, some better quality than others. So while they’re not of the standard, of say for example, Polish enamelware, these bowls do have some serious age to them, and I suppose the fact that they’ve lasted this long means that they can’t be completely terrible! Plus, quality aside, they sure are pretty – which counts for a lot in my books!
Dimensions: Each basin measures 46cm in diameter x 12cm deep
