I can’t remember when we last had one of these convex mirrors for sale? I do see them of sale from time to time, but they’re either ludicrously expensive, or some shop owner has decided to use it as a security feature and won’t part with it – the curve of the mirror allows them to see a wider section of their shops. I have one hanging in our dining room that I’ve had for yonks, but sadly mine is missing the black surround, which quiet a few of these mirrors seem to be – I’m not sure if they were made without this additional feature, or if the metal just corrodes over time and people remove them? Either way it’s a bonus that this one has it – it makes the mirror a bit larger and more imposing! There’s some wear to the metal, and the mirror itself is slightly milky, but I think the amount of wear & tear isn’t too bad considering these mirrors date to between the 1950s and ’60s – it’s doing a lot better than me for my 38 years on this planet!
