I think these are my favourite cake tins of all times – and that’s including any future tins we sell! Obviously they’re a very handsome pair, but really it’s the story that’s got me so excited! They came from a woman in her 80s who had been given the tins by her mother-in-law, who had won them in a cake baking competition, presumably sometime during the 1950s or ’60s! Which means that these tins are going on for sixty or seventy years now – you would never know it to look at their condition! All I can think is that she was so proud of having won the ‘Royal Baking Powder‘ competition that she looked after her tins exceptionally well! Isn’t that a pretty cool story? It’s definitely the first time we’ve seen cake tins as trophies!
