I’ve been on the hunt for these Ball jars for a couple of months now – I managed to find some original zinc lids a while back, but the glass jars proved far more elusive than I would have thought! It made me realise how much more common the Consol jars are, but I suppose that makes sense given that Consol is a South African brand, and Ball American. But I finally managed to find a pair of jars to match my lids, and they’re in great condition for their age! In fact they’re probably doing a bit better than their lids which are slightly corroded, but still perfectly functional with their milk glass linings intact. I’m not sure about the lids, but the specific design of the Ball logo tells me that the jars date to between 1933 and 1962, making them a minimum of fifty-four years old!
Dimensions: Large jar – 24cm tall x 11.5cm in diameter; Medium jar – 17cm tall x 9cm in diameter
