Isn’t the blue of this Villeroy and Boch dish and cake lifter just lovely? The maker’s mark dates this ‘Orleans’ pattern to between 1947 and 1956, making the pair in the region of seventy years old! Their condition is pretty decent given their age – there are one or two light scratches, but on the whole this a pretty clean bit of vintage crockery.
The yellow cake lifter is unmarked, but is also clearly a good quality piece of china, and is also in great condition! I realise that most of us just use an ordinary knife when we’re eating cake, but wouldn’t it be lovely to use one of these cake lifters for those special occasions? I think it’s the details that often make the difference when you’re entertaining….
