I don’t think I could be any prouder of Justin and Kabelo for the work they did on this dining room table! I didn’t realise quite how poor it’s condition was until I bought it home – the legs were badly damaged, and the entire table had to be dismantled and put back together again. Then there was the veneer, which was too badly scarred in places to save, so we decided (for the first time ever) to paint a simple geometric design onto the top – and wow – look at it now!! Isn’t that pretty incredible?? Although I’m not sure how well the photos show it off? It really is quite special!
The pattern was laid out so that it’s shown at its best when fully extended, but even when it’s closed as a six seater, I think it works pretty well. We used a PVA to paint the stripes, but covered it in a few coats of polyurethane varnish, so it should be pretty well protected, and keep its sharp looks for many years to come.
I have to say, I was pretty blown away by the transformation (go Team Mint!). Hopefully someone out there is equally as impressed and falls head over the heels – otherwise we might just be building a room onto our house to accommodate this masterpiece!
P.S. These chairs (which are still for sale!), were featured previously with another dining room table that we have fore sale, but are actually the original chairs that we bought with today’s table, which is why they look so great together!
