The condition of this vintage crystal ashtray leaves a bit to be desired – like the lovely piece of glass that we featured yesterday, the underside of this ashtray has loads of fine scratches, and there are also some nicks on the corners of the ashtray, a downside I suppose of the wonderful octagonal shape. I suspect though that it has some age to it – a few sites refer to the ‘Amadis‘ shape as art deco – so to be fair I don’t think that it’s condition is bad at all for its years. The ashtray is the work of Belgian glass makers, Val St. Lambert, who are the official glassware suppliers to the Belgian monarchy – nothing to be sniffed at! So while our ashtray might not be in mint condition, it’s still a really lovely piece of glass, and great value for money if you consider its provenance!
