Royal Doulton Coffee Pot, Milk Jug & Sugar Bowl (Set)

Certain makers of china obviously command more respect than others, and the name Royal Doulton is right up there with the best of the them! Royal Doulton started out life as Doulton & Watts pottery when John Doulton, already a talented potter, joined forces with Martha Jones and John Watts in 1815. Doulton invested his life savings of £100 into the business, and it turns out it was money well spent – the company is still going strong today, some 200 years later!

Today’s coffee set, which consists of a coffee pot, small milk jug and sugar bowl*, dates to sometime between 1967 and 1981 and is decorated with the Cranbourne pattern. Because the set was designed to accompany espresso cups, the milk jug and sugar bowl are on the petite side, with the coffee pot being slightly more generous. On a more positive note though, the set is pretty much immaculate, with the china being free of any imperfections, and that stylish floral pattern still nice and bright!

* NB: We’ll be selling the espresso cups and saucers in a separate post – today we are only selling the coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl

Dimensions: Coffee pot – 14.5cm tall x 14.5cm in diameter; Milk jug – 8cm tall x 7cm in diameter; Sugar bowl – 5cm tall x 7.5cm in diameter
