Retro Yoghurt Maker

I must be honest, I’m a bit confused by today’s yoghurt maker! All the vintage yoghurt makers that I’ve come across before have been electric, and work on slowly heating the yoghurt culture over a period of hours, but today’s version isn’t electric, and according to Google Translate, you use cold water, not hot water, which has made my brain go all fuzzy! I’ve looked at other non-electric yoghurt makers and they recommend using hot water and leaving the yoghurt to ferment for eight to ten hours, so I think I might go that route instead – it’s quite possible that something got lost in translation here!

P.S. “Heim-joghurt” translates from German as “home yoghurt”, with “Kaltwasser-fullhohe” meaning “cold water, full high” in English
