This is definitely one of the more unusual sets of drinking glasses that I’ve come across! Going on the materials (cut-glass and bakelite) I’d say that the set has a fair bit of age to it, probably dating to the art deco period. Given its age it’s not in too bad a nick, but the tray has been revarnished, and the finish isn’t quite as smooth as the original varnish would have been. The wooden cup holders are also a bit worn, with the varnish peeling in places, and it looks like there’s a glass missing (five glasses instead of six). On the whole though I think the set’s in fair condition, and while it may not be perfect (or that practical – the glasses sit quite loosely in the wooden holders), it’s a very striking set! I can imagine serving up some some spicy, exotic tea in these glasses – I’m sure whatever you drink out of them will taste that much more interesting than if you were using a plain china teacup or run-of-the-mill glass!
Dimensions: Each glass measures 7cm tall x 9cm in diameter; Tray measures 26.5cm in diameter x 2cm deep
