Retro West German Platter

R135.00

Today’s rather fabulous platter is the work of Waechtersbach Ceramics, a name I’ve only ever come across a handful of times in all the years that Mint has been going. In the world of retro they’re most famous for their 1980s hearts pattern, but having been established in 1832, their history obviously goes back much further than that! Today’s platter, with what looks like a giant tomato illustration on it, probably dates to more or less the same period as their iconic hearts series, so it’s obviously not particularly old. It sadly does have some wear to the pattern (see photos), but it’s such a striking design that I’m prepared to overlook the wear and tear – I love it so much! Also once your platetr is decked out with an assortment of crudites and a selection of tasty cheeses, you hopefully won’t notice the wear much…..
