Retro Swedish ‘Rapid’ Stapler

R170.00

‘Rapid’ is a brand name of Swedish company, Isaberg Verkstads AB, which started out life in 1936 manufacturing map sleeves for military use. The sleeves were assembled with staples, using stapling pliers imported from Germany. In 1942 a bomb hit the German factory, necessitating that Isaberg start producing their own tools, and within a few short months the Rapid 1 stapler was born! Today’s K2 stapler was only the second stapler produced by the Swedes, and is still being sold today (although it’s sadly not available in this fantastic retro orange!).

I think our stapler probably dates to around the late 1960s, and for its years is in great cosmetic condition (bar a few minor signs of wear and tear), and in perfect working order!

P.S. The K2 is considered an iconic design, and is included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York!

Dimensions: 18cm long x 4cm wide x 9cm tall
