Sometimes it’s the smallest of items that are the most beautiful, like today’s retro porcelain trivet – it’s not giant (although it’s a decent size as far as trivets go), but the artwork is so striking. It’s also typically Scandinavian, being designed by Norwegian artist, Arne Lindaas (1924-2011), for Porsgrund, a ceramics factory that’s been in operation since 1885. The maker’s stamp on the back of our trivet dates to between 1958 and 1974, with most people dating the design to the 1960s – which makes our trivet in the region of fifty-sixty years old, and I’m happy to report that there’s not a mark on it!
P.S. This Porsgrund fish-shaped trivet can sell for as much as $70 (R960)
