Retro Dessert Bowls

R160.00

Without a maker’s sticker I can’t say for certain, but I’m fairly confident that this is a set of retro dessert bowls designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Finnish glassmakers, Iittala. The Ultima Thule range of glassware was commissioned in 1968 by Finnair to celebrate its new route between Helsinki and New York. The range, which was inspired by the melting ice in Lapland, proved so popular that it’s still produced by Iittala today!

P.S. These bowls can sell for a pretty penny – there’s a set for sale on Rubylane for $64, that’s close to R1000!

Dimensions: Each bowl measures 11cm in diameter x 5cm tall
