Replica Miura Bar Stools (Each)

If you’re good at what you do, someone’s bound to copy your work at some point, so I suppose it’s a complement to German designer, Konstantin Grcic, that there are so many replicas of his famous Miura bar stool, popularly knows as the shark jaw stool. But even the copies sell for a fair bit – locally the cheapest that you can pick up a replica Miura bar stool for is R850, unless you shop at Mint that is! Obviously I don’t normally buy contemporary furniture, but I got these stools at a good price, so I couldn’t help myself. Plus, I’ve been eyeing them out for about a year now, since I saw a set of very similar original retro bar stools (I wonder if that’s where Grcic took his inspiration from?). Obviously being second hand these stools (which are a kind of orangey-red, but more red than orange) have a bit of wear to them, but the wear isn’t terribly noticeable, and for the reduced price, I think it’s worth overlooking. Two of the chairs are also slightly lighter than the rest, and a bit more worn than the other three, which are reasonably clean, so I wonder if they weren’t used outside and have been bleached slightly by the sun – again though, the difference doesn’t shout out at you, so it’s not really the end of the world.

An interesting contemporary design that will add a pop of colour to your kitchen or bar.

P.S. I had a seat in one of these chairs, and I have to tell you, they are surpassingly comfortable! Also please note that the stools are only for sale in Joburg.

Dimensions: Each stool measures 75cm tall x 45cm wide x 43cm deep
