You’re either going to love or hate this (rather large!) ceramic bust of the Egyptian Queen, Nefertiti – it goes without saying that I’m rather a big fan of her! She’s a copy of the famous limestone bust of Nefertiti that was made in 1345 B.C. – as one of the most copied works of ancient Egypt, it’s an instantly recognisable artwork, although countless variations exist. I really love the version that we have for sale today – I particularly like the detail in the neck area, and the unusual use of black and white which makes the design stand out so beautifully. The original artwork is much more typically Egyptian, with blues and gold being the dominant colours, but I think whoever decorated our queen did a fabulous job – I think she looks really beautiful!!
Note: The bust is in very good condition, but there are two areas where the glaze didn’t take – the chin (see photos) as well as a small area on the base
Dimensions: 37cm tall x 24cm wide x 14cm deep
