Poole Espresso Set

Sadly today’s Poole coffee set isn’t complete, with only four espresso cups instead of the usual six, but to be honest, I consider myself pretty lucky to have found this set at all, so you definitely won’t see me complaining! Originally brought out in the late 1940s, this Poole ‘Twintone’ design proved hugely popular and was manufactured for some thirty years, with one of today’s coffee pots dating to the early 1950s, and the other to the early 1960s – it’s not surprising then that this set has lost one or two pieces along the way! The only thing I’m a little down in the mouth about is that there’s a chip on the lid of the taller coffee pot that I didn’t spot until after I bought it home. Luckily though it’s on the inside of the lid (so your guests won’t spot it), and we’ve given it a spot of varnish so it will remain hygienic.

A really stylish and pretty hard to come by bit of crockery that will be a great display piece, but hopefully it will be put to good use – it’s too delightful not to show off when you have visitors over!

Note: Today’s set includes a Contour coffee pot (the taller of the two), a Steamline coffee pot, a milk jug, sugar bowl & four espresso cups and saucers. These coffee pots came in three different sizes, with today’s pots being the medium sized pots
