Philips Portable Record Player

You can’t help but love these portable record players, especially when they’re as cool as this retro Philips version – I love that orange! A few years ago you could pick these record players up at fairly reasonable prices, but with the resurgence of the vinyl market prices have gone a bit nuts, so I have to apologise for how expensive this little Philips is – I really wanted it, and I had pay a small fortune to get it. Justin’s given it a mini-service, so it’s playing fine, although these portable players never sound as good as the real thing (click here to hear what it sounds like). It operates off batteries or mains – someone’s changed the plug from a two pin to a three pin, so sadly the plug no longer fits neatly into its compartment, and there’s also some damage to the plastic case and speaker (see photos), but I don’t think it’s condition is too bad – in my books it’s still a very handsome record player!

P.S. Note to whoever buys this great little record player – you move the arm to the far right to turn the record player on, and to the far left to turn it off
