You don’t get more Art Deco than today’s Alfred Meakin tea set! The angle of the handles and the geometric design are archetypal deco, as is the silver detail in the pattern. Sadly though the teapot has some proper battle scars, with a noticeable chip on its base, and a hairline crack in the body of the pot – although I tested it out and bizarrely it seems it’s still completely watertight! Luckily though the beautiful milk jug and sugar bowl (which are oddly large), are in pretty decent nick for their years, as is the really unusual pot stand – something I don’t think I’ve seen before? I assume it was designed to protect your table from the heat of the teapot, but it could also easily double as a stand for pot plants, or other hot pots….

P.S.: The maker’s mark on this set dates to 1937

Dimensions: Teapot – 15cm tall x 17cm in diameter; Milk jug – 14cm tall x 11cm in diameter; Sugar bowl – 7cm tall x 12.5cm in diameter; Stand 16.5cm wide x 2cm deep

P.S. Unfortunately this item is too large for one of our courier packets, so will need to be boxed. To save on shipping costs, we’re happy to combine other items at no additional courier fee
