Orange Slice Chair & Ottoman

R3,200.00 R2,240.00

This is the single most expensive chair I’ve ever bought, but it’s not often that you see a Slice chair for sale in our parts –  in fact if you look online for one for sale in SA, you’ll come up short. Designed in 1960 by French furniture and interior designer, Pierre Paulin (1927-2009), the Orange Slice Chair was produced by Dutch furniture manufacturers, Artifort, who it seems are still making the chair today – new a Slice chair with matching ottoman sells for $3800 (R56 000), and I would imagine that an authenticated original from the ’60s might sell for even more. I’m fairly certain that today’s chair is a replica – as most of the Slice chairs appear to be – but it’s definitely got some age to it. The upholstery fabric is quite worn and needs to be replaced, but the structure of the chair is solid – to sit on it (and put your feet up on the ottoman!) is a real joy!

P.S. Should you wish to have the chair reupholstered, we’re happy to arrange it for you. Also, say hello to our Staffie, Scout – I didn’t have the heart to move her!

Dimensions: Chair measures 75cm tall x 67cm wide x 60cm deep; Ottoman – 40cm tall x 54cm wide x 37cm deep
