Personally I love coloured glass, and I have a particular soft spot for vintage Murano glass, especially after Justin visited Murano in Italy and reported back on how much the glass sells for new – there are some real bargains to be found in the vintage glass market in South Africa! But a lot of the Murano ashtrays I sell aren’t that popular these days, whereas today’s bowl is large enough and shaped in such a way that it doesn’t necessarily look like an ashtray, even if that’s maybe what it was originally intended as. The teal colour is just lovely, and I really like that unusual shape! Also it’s in pretty decent nick – there are some scratches on the inside of the bowl, but no real damage.
A great piece to add to (or start) a vintage glass collection – and at about a twentieth of the price that you’d pay for one in the city of Murano, you can’t really go wrong!
