Modernist Tube Chandelier

I think this retro tube ‘chandelier’ light is absolutely spectacular! I’m afraid my photos really don’t do it justice – you really need to see it hanging (and imagine it in the right space) to appreciate it fully. I have no idea where it was made – the original (gold!!) light bulbs, which sadly are no longer working, were made in Japan, but the fittings inside the brass-coloured aluminium tubes were manufactured by Brökel-mann, Jaeger & Busse, a German lighting specialist. But I’m not convinced that it’s either German or Japanese – after spending some time hunting for it online, the lights that it looks closest to are all Italian – in fact there’s a five-drop 1960s chandelier from Stilnovo that has a very similar aesthetic – so who knows! The metal plates that the drops hang from is a bit tarnished, but it’s not something you’re going to notice once it’s hanging, and as I mentioned the gold lightbulbs that would have protruded from the tubes are all blown, so will need to replaced with plain white versions, but this is till going to be one helluva striking light! Now we just need to find the right house to match the light….

P.S. If you want to splash out you always have the option of buying vintage-styled lightbulbs from somewhere like livecopper.co.zahoiploy.com or mosproducts.co.za

Dimensions: 92cm tall (at its tallest); Plate measures 25.5cm in diameter; Each tube measures 25cm long x 4.5cm in diameter
