Midwinter Tea Set

R250.00 R150.00

The English really did produce some fine designs during the 1950s and ’60s – names like Meakin, Johnson Bros and Hornsea always get me very excited, but personally I think Midwinter stands head and shoulders above their contemporaries when it comes to retro ceramics! This ‘Stylecraft’ series was introduced by Midwinter in 1953, with an update to the shape in 1955 – the Fashion Shape was even more organic and out there! I’m not certain when this particular pattern, Petite Rose, was introduced, but the Stylecraft Fashion shape ended around 1970, so you’re looking at a set that’s a minimum of 40 years old, and in all likelihood quite a bit older. There’s some faint crazing on the inside of the teapot, but on the whole this tea set is in excellent nick!

Note: These tea sets came in two sizes, with today’s set being the larger of the two

Dimensions: Teapot – 24cm long (handle to spout) x 12cm wide x 17cm tall (to top of handle); Milk jug – 16cm long (handle to spout) x 9cm wide x 11cm tall (to top of handle); Sugar bowl – 12.5cm wide x 6cm tall
