I don’t think that this bench has any real age to it, and to be honest it’s not the finest bit of craftsmanship I’ve ever come across, but I love how long it is, and also how simple the design is – for me the attraction lies in what you can do with the bench because of its length and its simplicity, rather than the bench itself – if that makes any sense? We’ve sanded it down and given it a fresh coat (or three) of varnish, but there’s some damage to the one corner in the shape of a cup mark. Unfortunately the top of the bench is veneer, so we couldn’t sand too deeply, but even if we could have I suspect that this mark goes so deep that you would need to sand half the bench away to get rid of it! But if you use the bench for displaying pot plants (don’t they look great!) or as more of a table than a bench (magazines, TV stand, super long coffee table?) then you’re not likely to notice the damage. You could also have a cushion made for it, which would obviously cover up the mark.
It may not be the fanciest piece of furniture that we’ve had for sale on Mint, but it is one of the more versatile, and I’m confident that in the right space this bench will look absolutely fantastic!
