I don’t normally go in for these advertising mirrors (although some of them are quite cool), but when they’re as beautiful as this mirror for Job Cigarettes I can’t help but be a fan! Designed in 1896 by Alfons Maria Mucha (also known as Alphonse Mucha) this art nouveau image of a lady smoking a Job cigarette is one of Mucha’s best-known advertising posters, and this mirrored reproduction is a particularly nice example – it’s quite a large piece (much larger than these mirrors normally are), and is in excellent condition, with nice bold colours. The frame’s not to my taste (a bit too cottagey), but could easily be painted to give it an update. If it were mine to keep (I so wish I had the space) I’d probably paint the frame plain black or white, depending on where I was going to hang it.
NB: Please pay attention the the dimensions below – this is not a small mirror!
