I think this may be the first time I’ve ever sold a piece of Globe pottery, and so I’m afraid I can’t really tell you much about the history of this lovely bowl. From the little bit that I’ve read it seems that the Garsfontein factory was bought by husband and wife team. Mr and Mrs Reid, in 1957, but I’m not sure how long before that it was in operation, or how long after that date it continued? What I can tell you though, is that Globe pieces are very collectible, comparative in prices to Linnware, with today’s bowl advertised for sale on Gumtree for R1250!
Note: Generally speaking the bowl is in good condition, but the base is slightly uneven (a result of the way it was made, not a result of wear and tear), and there are some surface scratches on the inside base
Dimensions: 33cm in diameter x 7.5cm deep
