Large Mid-Century Brass Horse

R580.00

I’m completely, madly, head-over-heels IN LOVE with today’s horse!! He’s obviously not going to be to everyone’s taste, but he’s right up my alley! He’s made from brass, and from what I’ve read is known as an Etruscan horse – the Etruscan civilization flourished in central Italy between the 8th and 3rd century BC, and remnants of brass horses have been found in large Etruscan cemetaries, so clearly the horse was considered an important symbol.

Today’s version of the Etruscan horse was likely produced towards the middle of the last century, with horses like ours often being referred to as in the style of Frederick Weinberg, and American artist and industrial designer who was particularly active during the 1950s. I’m not certain how you tell an original Weinberg from another artist, but to be honest I don’t really care who forged our horse – I just love it so much!

Note: Our horse is pretty solid, but he is rather top-heavy, making him feel slightly unstable if you bump him….

Dimensions: 37.5cm tall x 31cm wide x 7cm deep

Unfortunately this item is too large for one of our courier packets, so will need to be boxed. To save on shipping costs, we’re happy to combine other items at no additional courier fee
