I’m not usually the biggest fan of this style of pottery (too many memories of brown pottery mugs from my childhood!), but the decoration on this large salad bowl has been seriously well executed, which takes it from bad ’70s decor into the realm of serious art! There’s no maker’s mark to speak of, and I doubt anyway that this is a factory-produced piece of pottery, but it’s also not the work of an amateur potter – this bowl was definitely made by someone who knew what they were doing when it came to throwing a bowl, as well as decorating it. I love the stylised leaves and petals – there’s almost something Scandinavian about the style of the painting – and of course I’m not complaining about the condition of the bowl, which is absolutely immaculate!
