Kartell Waste Basket

I know that we shouldn’t be influenced by labels, but sometimes it’s hard not to be – Justin turned his nose up at my ‘plastic’ waste paper bin, until he found out that it was made by Kartell, and then he wanted us to keep it! Ha ha! But luckily as tempting as it is to hold onto everything, not everything goes with our house. As cool as the bin is, it’s not that warm and needs a very specific space to show it off properly – personally I think that it would do well in the offices of an ad agency or architecture firm – Gino Colombini, the man who designed this bin in the 1960s, was actually an architect, so it makes sense that the bin should feel at home in that kind of environment……

P.S. Kartell still produce these waste bins – new they sell for around R1000. Also note that because of its age this bin does have quite a few scuff marks – please make certain to look at all of the photos.
