Johnson Bros Part Dinner Service

R340.00

First sold in 1978 the ‘Susanna’ series was produced by Johnson Bros for British textile firm, Laura Ashley. Susanna was sold until 1982, and according to some sources is the most popular print Laura Ashley ever designed! The Johnson Bros china was accompanied by a variety of soft furnishings in the same pattern, but produced in fabric, the print was called ‘Campion’, and came in a variety of colours. Personally I quite like the brown floral of today’s service – it’s not a colour I would normally be won over by, but it works really well here! The only downside to today’s service – which really is so pretty! – is that it’s not complete, with only five small and five large bowls, six salad plates, and four dinner plates. I suppose the fact that there are two different sized bowls and two different sized plates means that you could mix and match and still serve a full dinner party of eight! And of course, they’d also make for great everyday crockery – still pretty, but not too precious so that you have to worry about them getting damaged.
