Japanese NyX Folding Chairs (Each)

If there was such a sport as chair hunting, I’d definitely be winning the trophy! Since I sold our first pair of NyX folding chairs a few years back I’ve been on the hunt for more of them and have managed to source not one, but an impressive six in total! We’re keeping two of the chairs for ourselves (because I love them that much!), and selling the others, with this being the first of the two pairs.

The NychairX was originally designed in 1970 by Takeshi Nii. It was named ‘Ny’ after the designer’s family name, Nii, but also references the Danish word for ‘new’, or ‘fresh’. The NyX sling chair has won numerous design awards and in 1970 it became a permanent feature in the MOMA collection!

So there you have it, a chance to own an iconic Japanese design at a fraction what you would pay overseas – online the NyX folding chair can sell for as much as $1100 (R16 900)!

Dimensions: Each chair measures 97cm tall x 56cm wide x 56cm deep (because they’re newly upholstered the chairs don’t fold that easily so the dimensions are for the chairs opened out)
