Huguenot Cups & Saucers (Set)

R120.00 R90.00

The dark brown glaze on these Huguenot saucers is quite peculiar – or rather I should say, whoever did the glazing did a really rubbish job! While the cups are beautifully finished, the saucers are quite chunky with several areas where they’ve been overglazed, resulting in thick brown lumps! Fortunately though the cups are so cool that any shortcomings in the saucers are easily overlooked! While I’m definitely a fan of this vintage South African brand, Huguenot don’t tend to have the most exciting of patterns, but I love the retro geometric design of these cups, which almost seems to reference the iconic Ndebele patterns. The glaze on the cups is an orangey-brown (probably more brown than orange) so I would assume that they date to the 1970s, which would also make sense with those dark brown saucers.

A very cool set of cups and saucers that will be as useful as decor in your kitchen as they will be as vessels for your morning tea!

NB: There are only four cups & saucers

Dimensions: Cups – 7.5cm tall x 7.5cm in diameter; Saucers – 15cm in diameter
