When I was photographing this lovely glass paperweight I noticed that it had some fine scratches, revealing clear glass underneath. I was quite surprised because it’s normally more contemporary glass that’s ‘painted’, and I would have thought that this paperweight, with its wonderful bubbles, would have had some age to it, and perhaps it does – there are very similar paperweights online that people claim to be Murano. But even if it is contemporary it’s really not the end of the world – it’s still a lovely piece of glass – definitely far nicer than any of the ‘made in China’ glass paperweights that are doing the rounds at vintage markets (beware!).
