I think this is probably only the second or third time we’ve been lucky enough to find a complete set of these brass flying birds – and that’s in more than a decade, to give you an idea of how hard they are to come by! Today’s set is in very good nick for their years – some websites date these birds to as far back as the 1940s! The brass is nice and clean, and there’s some nice details in the birds, particularly in the larger swallow – the smallest of the birds is pretty tiny, so there’s not a lot of scope for detail there! The only downside to today’s set is that they don’t have any hooks. The previous owner had used Prestik to hang them (which we had to dig out of the tiny holes!), but ideally they should be hung on your wall using little Hilti nails that you can buy at your local hardware store.
