Figgjo Flint Platter

I really do love this Norwegian ‘Clupea’ design from Figgjo Flint! The colours that Turi Oliver used in this this 1960s fish pattern are just so great, and I really like the hand-drawn style that’s so typical of Scandinavian design from this era. Interestingly ‘Clupea’ isn’t actually a Norwegian word (I suppose it doesn’t sound very Germanic does it?), but is actually Latin, and translates as either ‘herring’ or ‘anchovy’, depending who you talk to. But it’s not really the name we’re interested in, is it, but rather the wonderful design which is shown off so beautifully on this (smallish) platter, which happens to be in great condition!
